GUIDE ON THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN JUVENTUS MATCH WORN AND REPLICA SHIRTS

Dear Fellow Collectors,

I have decided to write up this guide in order to help you avoid those vendors or individuals who deal counterfeit merchandise or replica shirts and claim them as coming from Juventus dressing room.

Here you can find all the characteristics that the authentic match worn/issued shirts have in contrast to the shirts coming from imitators, beginning from season 95/96 through now.

Obviously any shirt featured on this website possesses every one of these requirements.
Whoever decides to purchase a shirt from my collection can be absolutely sure of its authenticity and that the most rigorous aspects of all the below points have been followed.

Five features that are important to ensure the worth of all the shirts from each of the aforementioned seasons are as follows:

1.Only XL size shirts were used by every player from the seasons 95/96 up to and including the season of 99/00

2.The Lega Calcio patch has always been sewn onto the shirt from 96/97 up to and including the season of 02/03.
The following patches have been used over the years:

In the first half of the season 03/04 patch LEXTRA with Italian flag colors running over a football with no background.

From the second half of the season 03/04 to December of 2008, traditional patch LEXTRA TIM must be applied.

From December 2008 up until the end of 2009/2010 season rounded rubber patch

From 2010/2011 season, after a split between Serie A and Serie B clubs, rectangular rubber SERIE A TIM patch

3.The neck label must have a wide silver stripe on the right side and a narrow gold stripe with the words “official pro equipment” written over up to and including season 97/98

4. Champions League patch must be embroidered onto the shirt for 95/96 and 96/97 seasons;
in 97/98 and 98/99 seasons have also been used shirts with patch that was thermo applied Lextra (in 98/99 had been used also a patch in tissue sewn on shirts).
The shirts issued for Champions League matches in the season of 2000/01 must have a patch Lextra sewn onto the shirt. In the successive seasons, the patches were thermo applied.

5. Name and Number are always thermo applied in plastic for all the shirts beginning from season 98/99

The name applied in plastic letters on a velvet rectangle with the angles rounded off. In contrast, the shirts produced for the “Old Legends” (Del Piero, Ravanelli and Vialli) have a rectangular name block made of plastic.
  • Remember, as stated before, the neck label must have the vertical silver line and a gold line with the words “Official pro” written over it. The shirts produced for the “Old Legends” company have a different label (all black)

SEASON 96/97

  • The black and white (home) shirts must have numbers dye sublimated (printed directly onto the shirt). The name can either be dye sublimated or thermo applied in plastic letters (in this case, applied directly to the fabric, not on a plastic rectangle). • Champions League centenary pink shirts have a patch thermo applied and not embroidered like all other pink shirts

SEASON 98/99

  • Unlike in the previous seasons, the neck label must not have silver and gold stripes with “official pro equipment” words there. Absolutely no exceptions! (If label has these stripes, it is the Old Legends shirt)

SEASON 2012/2013

HOME SHIRTS

There are mainly three types of replicas from which the shirts worn in a match are different:

  • The shirts sold in sporting goods stores, so called “official replica”
  • The shirts sold at Juvestore calls “authentic” or “promo” marketed because they are very similar to match worn/issued shirts
  • Asian counterfeits that try to imitate the shirts exclusively provided to the team

Here are the differences in each of these three types:

The jerseys sold in sporting goods stores do not have:

  • Perforated sides
  • Plastic T-plates applied to the shoulders
  • Juventus logo applied in a thin plastic
  • Washing label applied in a thin plastic

The “authentic” shirts

  • Have both Boniperti’s quote and the neck label script entirely in black, while in match shirts Boniperti’s quote is black but the neck label script is GRAY. On the black (away) shirts, the Boniperti’s quote is in black and the label is grey colored.
  • The Scudetto patch is entirely different. On match shirts, it is thin, long, and narrow.
  • Sponsor logo is small

Asian counterfeits:

  • Washing label inside (even though made of plastic) is shorter than it should be, on the back of the shirt (like in past seasons) and not at the exact reverse of the band where is sewn the black label “Nike authentic” is sewn
  • The scudetto is entirely different (often wide and slim)
  • Sponsor logo is small
  • Absence of the plastic black and white patch covering the two stars on the chest above the Juventus logo

SO, THE HOME SHIRT WORN IN A MATCH MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING FEATURES:

  • Thermo applied very thin plastic washing instructions label, applied over authentic tag sewn
  • Boniperti’s quote is in black but the neck label script is in GRAY
  • Plastic black and white patch covering the two stars on the chest above Juventus logo
  • The Scudetto is thermo applied. It is long, thin and slender

PLEASE NOTE THAT A NEW VERSION OF “AUTHENTIC” SHIRTS HAD BEEN PRODUCED. THESE SHIRTS HAVE BONIPERTI’S QUOTE IN BLACK AND THE NECK LABEL IN GREY. SO, THIS FEATURE ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH TO DETERMINE IF THE SHIRT COMES FROM THE LOCKER ROOM. ALWAYS LOOK IF THE WASHING LABEL IS PLACED CORRECTLY
IF A SINGLE REQUIREMENT IS NOT MET, THE SHIRT CAN NOT BE CONSIDERED WORN IN A MATCH AND IT DOESN’T COME FROM THE LOCKER ROOM

BLACK AND PINK SHIRTS

  • Perforated fabric inserts on the sides under the sleeves
  • Thermo applied very thin plastic washing instructions label, no woven labels
  • Pink or black plastic T-shaped plates applied to shoulders
  • Juventus and Nike logos applied in plastic
  • Plastic patch covering the 2 stars
  • The Scudetto is thermo applied. It is long, thin and slender

SEASON 2013/2014

HOME SHIRTS

  • Washing label applied in thin plastic, along with a little woven Nike label with serial numbers
  • Sponsor is larger compared to some types of replicas and smaller than other kind of replicas
  • Thermo applied very thin plastic washing instructions label already counterfeit in several shirts sold on ebay but with different font and icons.
  • Replica shirts (as well as the authentic match shirts sold on juvestore.com) have a piece of white fabric stitched inside in the neck area. It carries information usually placed on the neck label, such as size and country of origin. The shirts worn in a match do not have this “extra” piece and instead the info is printed directly inside of the shirt.

YELLOW SHIRTS

  • Washing label applied in thin plastic, along with a little woven Nike label with serial numbers
  • The entire back of the shirt is made of perforated fabric

GOALKEEPER’S SHIRTS

  • Little black “1897” label is present on match shirts, but not on replicas
  • Juventus logo wich is embroidered on match shirts, is applied in thin plastic on replicas

SEASON 2014/2015

HOME SHIRTS

  • Heat pressed care instruction label (or detailed washing care label) accompanied by white fabric Nike label with serial number and size
  • Perforated sides (however also present on the commercially available “authentic” shirts)
  • On the shirts from the dressing room, the white triangle label with the words “fino alla fine “, as well as size tag and Nike DRI-FIT label applied DIRECTLY to the tissue of the rear of the shirt. Instead, on commercially available “authentic” shirts there’s an extra piece of fabric stitched into the neck area where all neck labels are applied. Similar to “authentic” home shirts from season 2013/14
